How to SOULFUL New Year’s Eve (+ what I’m doing tonight)

NYC New Year’s Eve is notorious crazytown when it comes to festivities. Lots of non-natives, restaurants overflowing and even if you’re just trying to get to a super chill dinner party in Brooklyn, one still needs to contend with the aforementioned ambitious hoards.

Usually gets a bit messy and loud: par for the course for the nation’s biggest city.

I’ve opted into quiet NYE’s for many years now, and this one will be no different!

First, there are 4 components to an incredible New Year’s Eve. Just 4. And they can take 10 minutes or 4 hours, but I’d suggest at least 10 minutes. 🙂

1. Look back.

Most people are already on the resolution/intention train. (Holiday cookie burn off, anyone?) One of our biggest missed opportunities is to not take this time to reflect on our achievements, happinesses or even losses. If we jump to far forward into visioning, there’s a restlessness: an energetic incompleteness, because our memories have a yearning to be seen and “put to bed.”

2.Give Thanks.

Appreciation for these loves and losses is what energetically closes their participation in our life. Both good and bad. Of course, being the savvy spiritual student you are, you well know that all of life happens FOR us. Thank the ugly. It makes things sweeter ahead.

3. Look Forward.

Fun times! What better day than the last of 2015 to intend for and plan for 2016? Share your desires to someone. They will hold your vision accountable in the Universe. Pick 4. You definitely want at least four things to come to fruition. The size of the container you create to receive, is your choosing.

Sometimes it’s vulnerable to truly state what’s in our hearts: that’s when you know you’ve hit Soul juice. Be brave.

4. Celebrate.

It’s New Year’s, baby. Literally the day for celebration. You can trance dance it out, or bring it in sipping champagne— doesn’t have to be a huge party but definitely make it a party. Even if you fall asleep at 9pm, there’s a Grace in offering a “Yay” factor to your night. It lets 2016 know: I’m ready, come on in.

Specifically, I will be doing a combination of the above. I’m holing up in the West Village with a loved one.

We will look back, and go over all the pretty + gritty of the year, acknowledging it, releasing it + inspiring us for change in 2016.

Our gratitude will clear out any clutter so our new intentions can arrive to a bright, clear + clean canvas. (Since it’s, like, what I do, there will probably be a guided meditation leading us through a process from which this inspiration can spring.)

My lovey asked: Can we do a Ganesh puja?? Or do you think that’s too much?

(You know you’re hanging out with the right person on NYE, when…)

So, obvi, we will do a formal ceremony to Ganesh to clear out all the obstacles unconsciously lurking in the corners of pre-2016 occurring. Gratitude as Devotion. Powerful stuff.

This year to look forward, we’re going old school with vision boarding. I personally have secret Pinterest vision boards that are always on point + usually do private iMovies with photos and music. But there is something special and more festive about sitting your a** on the floor, dozens of magazines strewn about, giant glue stick in hand + affirming “this this this.”

(Also, since you’ve already gotten the completion, connection to spirit, appreciating + devotion out of the way, this is the ideal place to pop open the champagne, if you partake. #justsayin)

(Oh, and if you’re wondering about resolutions? I don’t do them. It feels too constricting. Dudes are good with resolutions—  challenge inspires the masculine, but determination depletes the feminine. Our core to be activated and happy yearns for flexibility and flow. Vision and intention hold a different energetic resonance than resolution.)

And, celebration takes over from there. Pretty easy to do when you’re feeling it with the rest of the world.

Wishing all of you the brightest most beautiful evening tonight + here’s cheers to calling in the fairies + foundation for the most gorgeous year yet.

Adore you.

Happy almost 2016!

love love,
